February 28 – March 14 (3 sessions)
Discussion on the principles of bird finding and identification, equipment, photography, where to find information in print and on line, groups to join etc. Followed by application of these principles to specific groups of birds that are found locally (e.g. birds of prey, sparrows, warblers, gulls etc.) and specific areas. The course will include a half-day or full-day field trip to 1 or 2 local "hot-spots" (will be scheduled at a later date) to apply the learning and have fun.
Richard Stern
Originally English, emigrated to Canada in 1978. Trained as a physician and later as a specialist in Internal Medicine in England, , then at Dalhousie. Spent 3 years in full time research. Practised as an internist in Kentville for 36 years, and now retired from clinical practice, although still doing consulting work. Have long had birding and photography as hobbies, and have been active in, and past- president of, the NS Bird Society, Kings Co. Photo Club, and Blomidon Naturalists Society.
