October 22 – November 19  (5 sessions)

Climate change has transitioned in a short period of time to a climate emergency as the science becomes incontrovertible, and the rate and degree of ecosystem and climate breakdown more alarming. The course will provide context for understanding collapse of past civilizations, and the multiple causes of the present day climate breakdown including disregard of ecological conditions and limits to growth. Examples of latest mitigation and adaptation strategies being developed and employed around the world by various sectors including the crucial role of citizen movements will be explored as well as coping strategies for citizens to remain active and resilient in the face of the major systemic transformational shift which will be required in political, economic, social and cultural realms.
