Fridays, 9:00am – 11:00am

February 14 – March 13  (5 sessions)

Note: Course was originally scheduled to begin Feb. 7 but was delayed due to bad weather.

This course has been designed for those that have no prior knowledge of hydrology. It describes the unique properties of water, the water cycle, uses of water, abuses of water, and concludes with suggestions for furthering sustainable use and predictions of issues. My proposed goals for participants are: a better understanding of the hydrological cycle and water quality, how these can be disrupted, and an understanding of how you can promote better use of water

Howard Williams

Howard was awarded a Ph.D. in Geology in 1973 and taught at universities until 1986 researching on structural geology, regional tectonics and mineral potential of Archaean rocks, in Greenland, Sierra Leone, UK, and Canada. From 1986 to 1992 he worked at the Ontario Geological Survey continuing his interests in ancient rocks. In 1994, after research on the use of groundwater and rock as heat / cold storage media, as part of a CO2 emissions reduction program, he graduated with a M.A.Sc. Howard then spent 21 years as a consultant and government hydrogeologist in Canada, UK and New Zealand. His interests included water resources management, especially consenting issues in large aquifer systems, adaptive management techniques, catchment water management, wellhead protection and managed aquifer recharge.
