Britain in the Viking Age

Jennifer MacDonald | 35 seats available Wednesdays, 2:30 p.m. — 4:30 p.m. March 22— April 19 (5 sessions)

 

Covering the period from the mid-8th to the mid-10th centuries, this course will focus on the cultures and kingdoms of the British Isles, with a heavy emphasis on the impact of the Vikings.  Topics to be covered include: Christian culture, regional differences in Viking activities, law and society, and developments in art, architecture and learning.

 

JENNIFER MACDONALD

Jennifer MacDonald is an Associate Professor in the Department of History and Classics.  She received her doctorate in Medieval Studies from the University of York, England.  She has taught in England and Canada, and was the lead researcher on an interactive museum project about England in c. 1000 A.D.  For ALL, she has previously taught courses on " Early British History and Archaeology", "Henry VIII and Tudor England", and "The Children of Henry VIII".
