This presentation will be of interest to those who are prefer to travel at their own pace, whether individually or in a small group. We will examine the planning process, from choosing the optimal destination, itineraries, travel partners, if any, to budgeting, accommodation choices, using the internet wisely in planning and communicating with home. Some emphasis will be placed on cost saving options and ways to deal with scammers, pickpockets and other personal safety issues.

 

NANCY CHESWORTH

Nancy Chesworth, Ph.D. is a two-time graduate of Acadia, and former associate professor in the Department of Business and Tourism at Mount St. Vincent University. She has been travelling since age 6, at which time she took her grandmother along for the trip. When not travelling, she teaches tourism in Asia and consults on topics such as international tourism, destination planning and development.
