This introductory course will cover various elements of winemaking and vine growing in the Province. It will examine the unique climate and soil conditions that are a pre-requisite for various grape varieties. It will provide an overview of economic implications and spin off benefits of the industry.  The course will look at traditional, organic and biodynamic practices. We will investigate why sparkling wines are so successful and examine in detail some of the award winning wines from the region. One session will be devoted to Tidal Bay- the first appellation for Nova Scotia and what it takes to obtain the Tidal Bay designation.

The 4 session course will feature two speakers per session followed by a tasting. The speakers will represent winemakers, wine growers and other wine specialists. The Wines of Nova Scotia course will be moderated by the dynamic and very knowledgeable wine expert and sommelier- Amy Savoury.
