The M.Ed. in Counselling program at Acadia is introducing a professional development workshop to support the continued growth and development of new and experienced counsellors as they expand their practice into a virtual platform.
The transition from face-to-face to a virtual experience is an exciting possibility that brings with it many complexities and necessary considerations. In this course, counsellors will have an opportunity to gain knowledge and experiential practice in virtual service delivery, as well as exploration of creative online counselling interventions.
Topics that will be covered in this 3-day workshop include:
- virtual counselling foundations
- benefits and risks
- ethical considerations
- creation of the virtual office
- remote record keeping
- creative virtual interventions
- boundaries and self-care
- navigating issues of risk
- the virtual counselling exchange
Program Details
Dates: November 14th, 28th and December 12th (Saturdays), 8:30am-12:30pm (Atlantic Standard Time)
Delivery: 4 hours/class synchronous, with 2 hours/class asynchronous prereading and preparation; 18 hours total

Cost: $250.00. Certificate provided upon completion. Course approved for Continued Education Credits with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA)
